The problem
Algerian doctors were managing patient workflows with paper records, phone calls and manual calendars. No digital tool was built for local clinics, where non-technical assistants handle most of the daily admin.

A web platform for doctors and their assistants to track patients, manage appointments and handle medical records, designed for speed and simplicity rather than feature bloat.

What I did
- Built the backend APIs with Express.js and PostgreSQL for the core medical workflows
- Implemented role-based access for doctor, assistant and admin accounts
- Built the admin and user dashboards with Next.js and Tailwind CSS
- Ran Docker-based deployment on a VPS with GitHub Actions CI/CD
- Handled schema migrations, query optimisation and zero-downtime releases
- Managed the product: scoping features, prioritising the roadmap, writing specifications
- Coordinated a team of 3 developers
Challenges and solutions
Production incidents without downtime
Resolved firewall blocks and intermittent gateway errors by tightening the reverse-proxy configuration and adding health checks, without taking the platform offline for clinics using it.
Access control that clinic staff can use
Designed role-based access secure enough for medical records but simple enough for non-technical assistants, with clear permissions per account type.
Changing the database under live data
Evolved the schema several times as requirements shifted, with migrations that preserved live patient and appointment data.
